Project planning guide

Concrete Disposal & Recycling Planning

Understand the material before assuming its destination.

Identify what is in the load

Describe concrete, reinforcing steel, masonry, asphalt, soil and mixed demolition material separately where possible. Mention coatings, suspect materials and available survey information.

Do not promise recycling by default

Material acceptance depends on the receiving facility and the actual load. Recycling can be considered where appropriate, but a website statement is not evidence that a particular pile is accepted.

Plan loading as well as trucking

State whether the concrete is already broken and stockpiled, who supplies loading equipment and how trucks reach the site. Restricted turns or staging can change the handling plan.

Agree on documentation

For projects requiring disposal records or closeout documentation, specify those requirements in the scope. Ask how quantity changes or rejected material will be documented before hauling begins.

This guide supports initial project planning. It is not an engineering design, a permit determination, an exposure-control plan or a fixed-price proposal. Site conditions and applicable requirements must be reviewed before work is accepted.
